Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Updates

Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

User Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.

Manual Updates

A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
