The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team reached their initial Fall Classic following 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the ALCS.

Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the upcoming championship.

"I'm thrilled for our team, the city, Canada," said Springer, a star of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."

The veteran has now hit 23 October home runs, making him third all-time behind Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).

"There's probably not another player on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment besides him with his post-season brilliance," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's going to sting" after his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their work this season.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we ended up on the losing end of the series," he remarked.

The Blue Jays secured the championship on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the first game on Friday.
