Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

It said wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
