Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former physician now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
