Defiant Celtic's manager shows no fear of the sack yet Celtic fans unleash anger after derby defeat.

Wilfried Nancy insisted he had no concerns about dismissal, asserting, “The team is extremely close to things turning around,” despite moving dangerously close to the chopping block with a comprehensive defeat by Rangers.

A Second-Half Collapse Results in Derby Disaster

The Hoops were ahead Rangers at half-time but a second-half capitulation enabled Rangers to move level on points with the defending Scottish Premiership champions. The French coach, who was brought in from Columbus Crew, has now overseen six defeats in his last eight games.

“The board and I are united at the club,” stated Nancy.

Asked directly about his own future, he replied: “That’s not my focus. My focus is on discovering solutions to get the team to be good on small moments.

Fan Fury Erupts

“The outcomes [that leads to pressure]. So this is the truth for the moment. Yet when I say this is the reality, it doesn’t mean that I am giving up. Absolutely not. What I mean we are on the cusp, extremely close to turn things around.”

Focus on the Details

Nancy remains focused on the fact his team can perform strongly for 45 minutes at a time. Indeed, were it not for poor finishing they might have been better than 1-0 up. “There were positives except the fact that we didn't take our chances,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but I have also to be balanced.

“The level we had at stages was exceptionally high. That happened. And I would not talk like that if it was untrue. But that’s why, in terms of results, I mentioned it's a repeating pattern. Which is why I said that we are really close to getting it right. But for the moment: details, details, details.”

“There were plenty of positives that we did, like today again. However it’s about performing for 90 minutes. My narrative would not be if I didn't believe it. Therefore I am convinced we’re going to be able to fix this.”

Röhl’s Cautious Outlook

Danny Röhl was cautious about a title charge in spite of what seemed like a huge result. “We take it game by game, and we can really build up momentum,” he said. “The belief in the team is immense.”
